The 2006 Grand Prix of Turkey was held on August 27 2006. It was the 14th event of the season. The Grand Prix was held at the Istanbul Park circuit and was 58 laps long. The race was won by Felipe Massa. It was the 1st win of the season for Massa. He would eventually get 2 wins in 2006. The Brazilian, who drove for Ferrari, finished the race in 1:28:51.082. He had a lead of 5.5 secs to Fernando Alonso who came in second and finished 5.6 secs in front of Michael Schumacher who was third. Of the 22 drivers who competed in the race, 6 retired. After the race Fernando Alonso was leading the driver championship with 108 points. Felipe Massa remained 3rd but closed the gap to the number 2 with 4 points to just 34 points.
It was the 2nd time that the Grand Prix of Turkey was held at the Istanbul Park circuit.
