2012 calendar to be revised
Posted: Friday July 29th 2011, 07:09 GMT
Two months ago the FIA announced the 2012 Formula 1 calendar. The Calendar consisted of 21 races, included 6 back-to-back races and introduced the Austin Grand Prix. Autosport is reporting that the calendar is set for another big shuffle. Bahrain will be moved to the back of the season and will host the race back-to-back with the race at Yas Marina. The US Grand Prix in Austin will also be moved to the back of the season and will become the penultimate race.
Turkey is rumoured to have been dropped from the calendar. The calendar is restricted to 20 events and the old one consisted of 21 events. There were problems with signing a new long term deal for the Turkish Grand Prix and it looks like they weren't able to reach an agreement.
If the teams see no major (logistical) obstacles the new calendar will be ratified at the next meeting of the World Motor Sport Council later this year.
