Sam Michael: Double DRS certainly not a bad thing

Williams scored another 2 points in Canada. Rubens Barrichello finished as 9th but Pastor Maldonado failed to finish the race. Technical director Sam Michael thinks that the team has made good progress during the weekend: "We made some good progress in the right direction this weekend, in particular with the development of our exhaust blown diffuser. We raced the new diffuser, brake ducts and barge boards. We also had a development to the front wing, although we didn’t race that due to the characteristics not suiting the Montréal circuit."
Although not everybody is positive about the double DRS zone, Sam Michael thinks it's definitely not a bad thing: "It is difficult to make a proper judgement about this as the tyre performance dominated overtaking ability. It certainly wasn’t a bad thing so I’m sure this will be tried again in future."
The departing technical director says the team will bring another set of updates to Valencia in hope to further up their pace: " We have some further diffuser modifications for the European Grand Prix and our target is to get into the top ten in both qualifying and the race."
